キヴァ・シモヴァ(Kiva Simova)紹介
本サイト distant-earth.org 企画，『日本への絵手紙2001』に，”Regret“と”Waves“の計２曲を提供してくれた歌手キヴァさんについて紹介します． キヴァ・シモヴァ (Kiva Simova) は，チェコのプラハを活動拠点とするカナダ人女性歌手・鍵盤奏者で，倍音唱法（いわゆる喉歌）の使い手として世界的な評価を受けている人です．キヴァは，一人で同時に二声以上の旋律を歌い分けるこの驚くべき能力を，彼女自身の作曲やアレンジによるワールド・ビート/ジャズ/フォーク/実験音楽/ポップの中に溶け込ませ，『この世のものとは思えない』音楽を創り上げてきました． これまでに世界中の様々の音楽家たちとコラボレーションし，彼女のインスピレーションに満ちた即興的な歌声は，様々なアーティストの作品中に刻まれてきました．例えば： ジェニファー・ベレザン (Jennifer Berezan) プラハ出身のアカペラ・カルテット，イエロー・シスターズ (the Yellow Sisters) シベリア出身の各種民族楽器演奏家ナディシャーナ (Vladiswar Nadishana). イヌイット喉歌シンガーのタニヤ・タガック(Tanya Tagaq)などなど． さらには，ラロトンガ島周辺に生息するクジラとの共演さえ果たしています．（水中マイクで録音したクジラの歌声に，即興で歌声を重ねたのだそうです)． http://harmonicovertones.com/blog/underwater-voices/ キヴァは今日に至るまで，実に多様な音楽的素養を積み重ねてきており，古典ピアノ奏法，ジャズ・ピアノ奏法はもとより，ロック，ポップ，リズム＆ブルース等の演奏形態を探求するうち，自分の目指すべき音楽とは，人と人，文化と文化とが交じり合う場所に自ずと生まれてくる混合的な音楽であって，特定の名前でレッテルを貼ることなど到底出来そうにないと気付くに至りました． つい最近，ベルギーの Olla Vogala Orchestra と共演した彼女ですが，2001年にヘルシンキで開催されたキエク喉歌音楽祭 (KIEKU throat singing festival in Helsinki) では主賓歌手として舞台に立ち，それはフィンランド，デンマーク，日本，ロシア，アルバニア，チェコ共和国，アイスランド等での公演へと繋がりました．それよりさらに遡る1995年には，トゥヴァ共和国主催の喉歌国際シンポジウム (the International Symposium of Throat Singing … Continue reading

馬鞭から日本への千羽鶴
Cranes to Nihon 2011 by 馬鞭 (H.R. Downs) 日本への千羽鶴 地球へと舞い降りようとする鶴の群れが，体を傾けて旋回を始める．その様子を強調する目的で，フラクタル効果の渦巻き曲線を重ねてみた． 地球の地平を表すカーブも，宇宙に浮かんだ「惑星」らしく見えるように，少し大げさに丸くしてある．地上に縛られたままの現世的，人間的観点からすれば，地球という「惑星」がこんな風に見えてほしい，と期待されるようにね．この高度から見下ろした場合，たとえ科学的に見て，どこまでも水平に近い地平線こそが正しいとしてもだ． 当初，日本に千羽鶴の風習があることを聞いた時，自分としては，白い鶴だけで画面を埋めたほうが渋くて格好いいかなと思ったんだ．なぜなら地震でたくさんの人が亡くなった事を思うと，白こそが鎮魂に相応しいと思ったからなんだ．でも，残された人々を応援するために色を付けたほうが善いと，もう一度思い直し，出来上がっていたムーブメントを壊さない程度の中間色で塗ってみた．鶴が螺旋を描いて降下していく感じを壊さずに表現できているかな？ 日本のフォントを使って，”One thousand cranes for Japan from MaBian” と書いたつもり．それと西暦の2011年と書く代わりに，日本の天皇の年号「平成23年」を書き添えた．最初にみんなでポスターを作る時に必ずこれは入れよう，そう決めたようにね．これで通じるかな？ A fractal-based swirling curve to emphasize the flock banking into a turn to descend to earth.
